Rainbow reef is located nearby with world famous coral reefs. Tonga includes Vava'u, Ha'apai and Tongatapu, which is home to the King. Nuku'alofa is the Capital and olnly large town in Tonga. The Vava'u group of islands are 34 raised limestone isles with caverns and white sand beaches. French Polynesia includes the main island groups of the Marquesas, Societies, Tuamotus, Gambiers and Australs. Tahiti and Bora Bora are islands in the Societies group as well as Hauhino, Moorea and Papeute. Papeute is a modernized city and the Capital of French Polynesia. It is also one of the busiest ports in the South Pacific.

Captain Cooks journals detailed the islands. Moorea is the resort destination and base for Tahiti's visitors. The Leeward Islands of the Societies Group include Raiatea, Hauhine and of course Bora Bora. Each of these have volcanos at the center and are sinking slowly by their own weight. Bora Bora is referred to as the most beautiful place in the world and is 7 million years old! The Marquesas are the most secluded civil yet less advanced society for tourists, with no hotels and reachable only by boat. This is a great way to understand the differences between the cultures and islands to determine travel plans.
